Respect For Time

While teaching my course MADE IN ITALY: LEADING THE WORLD OF LUXURY, the word time continuously appears. During my lessons I repeat the key characteristics that make MADE IN ITALY remarkable such as excellence , innovation, and tradition, but as of late, the one that resonates with me most is respect for time. In a world that is constantly trying to move faster and get insta- results, my love for taking time grows. I think back to work environments that felt like a mad rush, and feel so completly free from the chaos and lack of respect I witnessed for design, reflection, the creative process and humanity.

In Italy, whether enjoying a long meal with family & friends or creating a masterpiece, respect for time is paramount. I was fortunate to have grown up in a home that also respected time and process. We learned at a young age to invest resources, energy, and time to everything we did and never skip steps to get their faster. As I continue to teach and consult, I hope that my influence can also encourage those I encounter to create, build, and work with respect, and to allow the time it takes.
