Training & Constant Improvement
Early in my career I had the opportunity to be part of the H&M Management team during the company’s entry into the Quebec territory in Canada. Once onboarded, my colleagues and I had the good fortune of 4 intense months of training under some of H&M’s best European leaders. I still remember learning the 7 Values and being amazed at how well organized this company was. I was coming from a high-end indie boutique background at the time so this was all very new. One value that truly captured my young mind at the time was constant improvement. This felt so fresh and energizing. Fast track to today, it is the one I still practice most from my time at H&M and I encourage my clients to invest in. Part of the Retail 28 -Trend & Theory approach is to work with organizations and individuals at investing in their growth and development, via small group workshops, one -on-one trainings or mentorship. The results are remarkable. On my end, I continue to invest in my own improvement by being a life long learner. This year, I enrolled in a new Educational Leadership program at McGill in Montreal. I plan to add new skills and knowledge to my toolkit in order to make my consulting and classrooms more successful, engaging and rewarding for all.
Another key point I want to underline is the importance of working for companies and for leaders who value Training & Constant Improvement. This automatically equals a growth mindset, curiousity and humility. When seeking an employer I encourage my students and mentees to choose those that will invest in their growth but also those who you see investing in their own development as this speaks volumes about their attitude.
Being around the improvement and learning mindset is a winning strategy, and from experience, being around the right people and the right values always pays off.
