Actions speak louder than words.
Infinite podcasts, millions of self developments books, and addictive youtube stars keep encouraging us to “think in a certain way” to live that better life and achieve success. Those popular sayings like “change your thoughts and you change your life” are attractive and have strength to them. However, as of late, I think we should start talking more about taking action. I propose “Change your activities and change your life.”
In my personal experience, starting to play tennis more seriously which includes weekly lessons and matches with my tennis club friends was one of the most effective actions I have taken to overcome the challenges and difficulties that came from working in a toxic environment and high stress. The sport completely engaged my brain and my body. The energy I was releasing and creating while on the court was incredible. The break from thinking about my problems, and instead concentrating on the match was exactly what I needed.
Earlier today, while talking with a great friend we dived deeper into this idea about action. Both of us love to learn and share the rich insights or inspiring thoughts from Good life leaders but we both had that same feeling; it’s also about the doing. Doing what makes you happy, more than thinking about what makes you happy will probably get you there faster.
